5 Tips for Transitioning Your Summer Skincare Routine to a Fall Routine
by Therese Rose
Fall is here and the last of the summer heat is slowly fading. When seasons change, you might want to think about re-examining your skincare routine. Why? During autumn, the air gets colder and drier. All of the lightweight moisturizers that you opted for in the prickly heat won’t cut it during the upcoming autumn and winter months. But, no fear!
Here are a couple skincare tips from the AAGC team that can help you maintain that beautiful skin of yours:
TIP #1 Get a chemical peel
Did you know that Fall marks the start of Peel season? Skincare physicians state that Fall and Winter are the perfect seasons for getting a chemical peel. During the last months of the year, we tend to stay cooped up indoors cozying up and watching Netflix. This lowers our level of UV exposure from the sun while our skin recovers from the peel. If only there was a pumpkin spice chemical peel out there that could match the season!
TIP #2 Continue Using Sunscreen
Sunscreen? In this weather? Yes! Don’t let those gloomy, cloudy days fool you. Even if the sun isn’t directly beating down on you, its rays can still do some damage to your skin. According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, radiation still penetrates any autumn cloud cover, so maintaining sun protection during the more overcast months are vital. You may tend to lessen your sunscreen application during this time, but the sun’s rays are just as present in the cloudier months.
TIP #3 Use thicker moisturizers
Wind, rain, and cold, dry air. The weather during these months could also be extremely damaging and drying to the skin. The lightweight moisturizers that you used during the summertime should be switched out to thicker moisturizers that can help your skin heal.
TIP #4 Try a sleeping pack
Sleeping packs are meant to be used as the final step of your nighttime skincare routine. After applying overnight, you’ll wake up to the smooth, hydrated skin that we all dream of. Our friends at Glow Recipe created the Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask that will help you achieve that beautiful glow!
TIP #5 Remember to Drink Water
Sounds redundant, but sometimes we don’t realize that we aren’t drinking enough water. When your body is properly nourished and taken care of, our skin will thank us.
